Alien Hockey's 2nd ever Tourney was another great success. The 1st Annual Cupid's Cup had 8 teams compete for the coveted "Golden Arrow". Actually, there was no prize.
Grey beat the Royal Blue Team by a nail biting 5-3 score. Bast was the Top Goalie in both win/loss record as well as leading the Grey Team to victory in the Championship game.
The goalies are the ones that really stepped up this time. Having only 4 goalies and 8 teams required the goalies to play for 2 teams each. Although not sounding like a big deal, that meant they played every game (which was 8 in a row) without a chance to go upstairs and socialize until the very end. I called it a 6 1/2 hour pay & play for them. So a big thanks to Bast, Brown, Storm, Luce & Anderson (for filling in).
Once again, nothing but great reviews, kind words, and many new friendships made at this event. A few players came from Omaha to join us and they had a great time as well.
Brendan McCallum & John Hoekstra took home $40 each on our "lottery pool". Each player could buy 1-2 squares to take a chance at guessing the champs (and loser) of the tourney.
A final thanks to all that helped get things set up, pizza put out, pictures taken etc. I'm sure I'll miss someone but thanks to the following that I notcied helping : Natalia (sick but still there), Stephanie (in between cheering for Tony), Dawn (great picks seen here ), Austin (carrying junk in from my van), Mark D (helping collect pool $), Shane (great shirt sorting ) and anyone else that jumped in to lend a hand. Also, thanks to Aaron Clutts for a great Jersey design and he still hopes he actually can play in one of these.
I'm looking forward to getting the next one running and thanks to all that made it a success. I rolled in at 2:42 AM Sunday morning, so it was a fun night for me as well!
