Many of the current C League Players, got their start in the D League (our poster child, Tom Kielty pictured to right was one).
We have close to 40 players currently involved in the D League this Fall / Winter session and want to expand this even more. This helps fuel the growth of all levels and makes each league more fun & competitive.
To help generate awareness of the Novice League, we have an opportunity to have D League players skate during intermission of the Tuesday, October 23rd Iowa Stars Game. I am asking for support from all hockey players to make this event a success. Players will only skate for approx. 2-4 minutes.
What can you do?
- D League Players - I need at least 10 players to play during the intermission. This is an opportunity for the fans to see that you can start playing hockey as adults even if you have never played. Some players have mentioned that it could be embarassing to skate during this event, and my response is that is correct. We want the fans to say "I can do that!" We already have several who have decided to do this and are helping expose the sport to more players. Please contact me if you are a D League player and can do this.
- Adult League Players - Show your support for growing hockey. Some of you may have started in the D League or play in the C League that now has 10 teams. This wouldn't be possible without the D League, so show your support and come out to this game.
- Fans - If you are just a fan of hockey, the Iowa Stars or the Adult League, be a part of our group. Power in numbers gets us opportunities like this to skate at Wells Fargo.
We are offering the same group deal as before. A $9.50 ticket gets you into the game, hot dog, chips & drink. There is no maximum as to how many tickets, but we need to sell at least 20. Since 10 players will be skating, we are 1/2 way there. Spread the word to casual fans, co-workers, teammates, neighbors, enemies, etc.
Stop by Alien Hockey to pre-purchase your tickets. I will need a final count on Monday October, 22nd.
